On November 9, 2011 the Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce received The Shining Example Award for The Top Event/Festival from the Southeast Tourism Society. The festival that won the award is the Thibodeauxville Fall Festival.

The Southeast Tourism Society is composed of 12 states. The banquet held Wednesday night at The Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans honored and recognized outstanding achievements in the field of tourism and travel in the southeast United States.

Thibodeauxville was named for a Top 20 Event  of November by the Southeast Tourism Society, and therefore was eligible for the Shining Example Award.

Annette Fontana, Chairman of the Board of the Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce, said “The Thibodaux Chamber was humbled when we were named a top 20 event for November, but to receive the Shining Example award is a true honor. “

Thibodeauxville Fall Festival will celebrate its nineteenth anniversary on Saturday November 12 in downtown Thibodaux. When it first started, Thibodeauxville had less than 15 vendors, but this weekend’s festival will have 180 vendors. There is also a waiting list of about 50 vendors.

“The original purpose of Thibodeauxville was to feature historic downtown Thibodaux, in an effort to revitalized the downtown business community,” Fontana said. “Since then the festival crowds have grown from local residents to visitors from around the country.”
