For over thirty years, senior adults from the community have gathered on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to enjoy a delicious meal, bingo, door prizes, entertainment, and each other’s company at the Annual Senior Citizen Thanksgiving Luncheon in Memory of Raymond Ellis. Organizers and volunteers from St. Luke Catholic Church will host its annual Senior Citizen Thanksgiving Luncheon Wednesday at the St. Luke Community Center, 300 E. 11th St. in Thibodaux. Doors open at 9:00 a.m., meal served at 11:00 p.m., closing at 12:30 p.m. This annual Thanksgiving luncheon creates a bond of friendship among the senior adults in the community and provides an opportunity for them to relax, enjoy a great meal, and have a great time. The Thanksgiving celebration is held in memory of Raymond Ellis, the late Lafourche Parish educator, guidance counselor, and lifelong member of St. Luke Catholic Church. Ellis kicked off the tradition in the late 1980s and the event has continued to grow throughout the years with the help of fellow parishioners, donors, and volunteers in the community.
